Mark Backler

Co-Founder

Co-founder, director and game developer, Mark is a guiding force within the Game Anglia story.

Starting with Suffolk roots, Mark has 11 years of experience as a game designer at companies such as EA, Lionhead and Sony on a variety of games including Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix and Fable 2.

He has a firm belief that video games have the potential to be the most powerful storytelling medium and is passionate about promoting young students into game development in this region.

Mark has been very heavily involved in our outreach programmes in local universities and colleges and other events, delivering talks to students and being involved with our game jam series.

Now with his own studio Sketchbook Games, he is developing the game Lost Words, a multi-award winning atmospheric puzzler set between the pages of a diary with a story written by Rhianna Pratchett.

Mark is a great person to speak to about our talks series, marketing opportunities and sponsorship of our events.
