Improbable’s Bill Roper is Keynote Speaker at GameAnglia 2018, East of England’s Largest Game Development Conference
GameAnglia is delighted to announce that Improbable’s Chief Creative Officer, Bill Roper, will be the keynote speaker for East Anglia’s biggest game development conference on 10th November 2018.
Sharing his vast industry knowledge spanning over two decades, Bill Roper will be exploring the creative journey in games development through his talk at GameAnglia 2018. During this talk, he will dive into keeping creativity flowing whilst continuing to grow in this competitive industry, and showing students how they can stand out from the crowd. Discussing the future of games development, he will expand on the innovative opportunities that Improbable and SpatialOS offer game developers, providing the tools to achieve gaming worlds that were previously impossible.
With an impressive background working with some of the heavyweights of the gaming industry, Bill Roper was part of the Executive team at Blizzard, bringing the WarCraft, StarCraft, and Diablo series tremendous success. He co-founded Flagship Studios and later joined Cryptic Studios as Design Director for MMOs Champions Online and Star Trek Online. Bill was Vice President of the gaming division and part of the Innovations Labs team at Walt Disney. Now working with Improbable as their Chief Creative Officer, he unifies the technological aspects of SpatialOS with the creative side of Improbable, working with the company’s developers and studios looking to harness its capabilities.
Improbable’s vision isn’t one of creating escapism through new virtual worlds, but providing the capability to build upon our existing one, where technology enhances the human experience. The first step on that journey is with the SpatialOS platform, which enables game developers to access managed cloud services when building multiplayer games. The platform aims to bypass the typical technical difficulties when hosting online multiplayers by providing global hosting, scalable resources, and continual service improvement to meet the expectations of developers and players alike.
GameAnglia Co-founder Chris Filip says: “Having a game legend like Bill Roper, who worked for Blizzard, Disney and now Improbable come to Ipswich to join the Game Anglia lineup is something we are proud of achieving. We are sure he will be able to inspire the hundreds of visitors we are expecting at the conference.”
Returning this year with an even bigger and more impressive indie game showcase and speaker lineup, GameAnglia will be hosting the East of England’s largest game developer conference on 10th November 2018, with an exclusive preview of the Indie Showcase Area on 9th November for ticket holders.
